Education is one of the seventeen United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, seen as a catalyst of a more sustainable future where human rights, gender equality, peace, an appreciation of cultural diversity and environmental protection are the norm. The 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are an urgent call for action by all countries – developed and developing – in a global partnership. They recognize that ending poverty and other deprivations must go hand-in-hand with strategies that improve health and education, reduce inequality, and spur economic growth – all while tackling climate change and working to preserve our oceans and forests.
Education for Sustainability Tasmania fosters the knowledge, skills, values and world views necessary for people to act in ways that contribute to more sustainable patterns of living. EfS Tas members are all working towards a shared future by meeting one or more of the Sustainable Development Goals.
